PIPLETTES : SCIENCE TOLD BY SCIENTISTS
Recently the Institut Pasteur marks the launch of ‘Piplettes’, a website dedicated to sharing with the public the interesting, fun and personal side of science -- through articles that are written by scientists from the Institut Pasteur. Piplettes was founded and is currently run by four PhD candidates from the institute.
They have been working closely with the communications and education departments to make the project happen and are very excited to share their pilot content with you!
This is an opportunity to enjoy good science writing, but it is also an opportunity for all Institut Pasteur scientists who are interested in sharing their passion for science with others in an accessible, relaxed manner (but of course, with scientific accuracy).
Piplettes has the dual aim of bridging the gap between the scientific community and the general public – alongside the efforts already made by the Institut Pasteur's communication team to publicize Pasteurian research – and of training researchers to communicate science to non-scientists. Every article is created via a close interaction between scientists and the editorial team using a peer-review system developed to ensure excellent scientific and linguistic accuracy, as well as accessibility.
In addition to inviting you to read, write and bookmark the Piplettes website, Piplettes encourages you to subscribe to their Twitter account so as to get updates each month when new articles are posted and to stay current on Piplettes news.
Speaking of Twitter, if you like this initiative, retweeting Piplettes posts is another great way to support them. You’ll help them reach a broader audience through your network!
